Questions You May Have Before Buying a Queen-size Bed

A few weeks ago, my sweet spouse brought home several tomato plants a friend had given him. My husband immediately put the small plants in pots. Every day, my spouse and I checked the plants to see whether they needed water. When the plants started growing tall, my spouse purchased stakes to brace them up with. He also invested in fertilizer to provide the plants with the nutrients they needed to grow. One day, when he went to look at the plants, he was excited to see several small tomatoes sprouting. That night, we celebrated our first gardening success as man and wife. On this blog, I hope you will discover simple gardening tips to help you grow your first crop of fruits or vegetables. Enjoy!

It's time to buy a bed, and you're pretty sure you've settled on purchasing a queen-sized one. But if you're like most people shopping for mattresses, you probably have a few questions you'd like answered before you go ahead and buy the mattress for yourself. With any luck, you'll find the answers to those questions listed below.

How large is a queen size bed?

You may know that a queen is the second-largest size of the standard bed sizes. It's bigger than a full size bed, but smaller than a king. However, you may want some more specific measurements in order to ensure the bed will fit in your space. A typical queen-size bed measures 80 inches long by 60 inches wide. Occasionally, you might see a mattress being sold as an Olympic queen. These queen size beds are still 80 inches long, but a bit wider than a queen at 66 inches.

How large of a room do you need for a queen size bed?

This really depends on how much space you, personally, feel you need around your queen size bed. That being said, a queen size bed will seem pretty big in a room that's any smaller than about 10 x 10 feet. If you have a bedroom smaller than this, then you may want to consider going down to a full size bed unless you're okay having very little floor space. In a room that's 10 x 10 feet or larger, though, a queen should be able to fit perfectly fine.

How can you get a queen-size box spring into your room?

Queen size mattresses are usually flexible and fold a little, so they're not too tough to get in the door and into your bedroom. But you might be wondering how you'll move a rigid box spring into the same space. Luckily, most mattress companies have a solution for this. They may have box springs that either fold in half or come in two separate halves. You place both halves of the box spring on the bed frame, and then you place the mattress on top. You will never feel that the box spring is split.

Queen size mattresses are a really popular size. They give you lots of room to sleep with a partner, but they're not so large that they overwhelm the average bedroom. Visit a mattress store and take a look at your options. There should be many different mattresses available in queen size.

Keep these tips in mind when looking at queen mattress sales in your area.
